Visit Elkader today through Sunday to enjoy one of the state’s corniest events — and that’s saying something. During Sweet Corn Days, visitors can take part in all sorts of free activities, including an ice cream social, a movie in the park, a donut hole eating contest and live music. Fireworks erupt over town on Friday at dusk, and a carnival draws crowds on Friday and Saturday. Check out South Main Street for free sweet corn at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Also on Saturday, those ages 19 and up can attend Cornstock from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. and see the rock trio KICK. There is a $5 entry fee from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a $10 entry fee after 9 p.m.
