Uptown Ankeny Farmer’s Market
Running late May through end of September, this Saturday morning market features arts and crafts, plants and veggies, hand-baked goods and handmade jams, and more. Located in two open-air pavilions, the market is easy to navigate before exploring Uptown’s shops and restaurants or heading out on the High Trestle Trail on your bike.
Yoga in the Park
Also Uptown at Wagner Park, this summer Saturday morning free class welcomes all skill levels. Bring a mat and spread out on the grass in front of the bandshell of instructors. Young kids learn the basics such as downward dog and warrior two, while experienced yogis can perfect their crow pose or headstand. The final pose, savasana, is simply perfect under a cloudy blue sky.
Sips & Songs in the District
Another summer celebration, these free Friday night concerts take over the heart of Prairie Trail’s Town Center Park. Enjoy a mix of genres throughout the concert series at this family-friendly event. Order takeout from one of the district’s 12 restaurants and relax on your picnic blanket or camp chairs.
Bingo Nights
Yes, this classic game is a big thing here! Uptown Garage Brewing hosts fun competitions every Tuesday night. Order a brew or two and try to win a prize—they’re awarded every round. Mistress Brewing Taproom on the north side also sports the game Thursday nights.
