Meditate in an indoor art garden in Davenport

Davenport’s Figge Art Museum rises from the downtown skyline near the Mississippi River.

A gallery at the Figge Art Museum in Davenport will soon become an indoor “Sculpture Garden” to showcase hefty sculptures from the permanent collection. The mix includes works by notable artists Marilyn Davidson, Gene Horvath, George Rickey and Julius Schmidt.

Visitors can stroll through the contemplative space during regular hours or attend any of several special programs, including traditional guided tours as well as mindfulness sessions led by a local yoga instructor and sound healer. The guides plan to use floor cushions and soothing music to create a peaceful oasis where visitors can consider the sculptures in new ways or, perhaps, simply free their minds for other pondering.
