Autumn has fallen across Iowa, which means there are quite a few fall festivals popping up as well. We raked through a heap of listings, like leaves in a pile, to find three favorites that are worth the drive.
The Bass Farms Fall Festival, every weekend through Oct. 26 in Cedar Rapids, features activities for the whole family, including mini golf, pumpkin bowling and a “farm frenzy” slide. If you’re looking for a sweet treat, try their apple cider slushy or seasonal Snap O’ Lantern ice cream (pumpkin with gingersnap crumble). The on-site store sells pumpkins, baked good and seasonal goodies.
The Fall Festival at Bloomsbury Farms in Atkins, just west of Cedar Rapids, is going on 30 years. Now through Nov. 1, the festival features a butterfly garden, a 10-acre corn maze, and a beer garden plus one more for wine. Brave guests can venture into the Scream Acres haunted corn maze … if they dare.
The Scenic Drive Festival is set for Oct. 10-12 in Van Buren County, where guests can explore 10 neighboring towns. Each stop offers different activities, markets and food throughout the weekend. Visitors can drive through the county to watch parades, see art shows and buy from local vendors. Curious? Check out the full list of events.
