Veteran cyclists Craig and April Cooper have run Bikes To You for 20 years. As an official Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) shop, this enthusiasts’ resource includes a satisfying variety of bikes, accessories and services. (One tuneup, the Annual Peak Performance Package, promises “snappy shifting and whisper quiet operations.”)
“We carry products that consumers might not find in larger stores,” says Craig Cooper. Hot bikes-of-the-moment here extend from the entry-level Giant Escape ($420) to the Giant Defy Composite road bike ($2,400). Located downtown in a historic 1894 building, the shop carries much more than cycling gear. New Belgium Fat Tire clothing and Terry brand women’s wear fly out the door year-round.
